When: August 18

Where: Lake Pepin. Lake Pepin is also known as Pool 4 of the Mississippi River. This is defined as between Red Wing locks and dam on the north end to the Alma locks and dam on the south end. This includes backwater areas. A Wisconsin license would be required to enter waters on Wisconsin side beyond the railroad tracks.

Meet at:  Roschen Park (Lake City) This is on the east end of town adjacent to Hwy 61. It has 2 concrete ramps, loading pier, large parking area, restrooms and a picnic area. Lake City was selected due to its relative central location on the lake. Colvill Park just east of Red Wing will be a backup start and end point if weather conditions (strong NE wind) are a problem. Determination to use Colvill would be made and communicated the day before the tournament.

Tournament time: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM  There will be no break for a group lunch due to size of lake and travel time involved. Food committee has agreed to provide food in picnic area following tournament.

Tournament Type: Team

Format and Scoring: This is a multi-species tournament that will try and take advantage of the many species of fish found in Pepin and also emphasize a diverse catch in the scoring. There will be 9 eligible species with the following minimum sizes:

  • Northern   21"

  • Walleye (includes Sauger & Saugeye)  14"

  • Largemouth  11"

  • Smallmouth  10"

  • Crappie  8"

  • Catfish (any kind)  15"

  • White Bass  9"

  • Sturgeon   20"

  • Bluegill (sunfish)  7"

Scoring will have two components. First, points will be given as last year for one of each species entered based on state records (the largest fish in each species for the team will be scored). The second component will be an increasing number of  points given for each species entered. Example: 1 species 10 pts, 2 species 10+ 15 pts, 3 species 10+15+20, etc

Official score sheet:  Pepin Scoresheet.PDF

Special Rules: Two lines are allowed on border waters. Live and artificial bait will be allowed.
